The Alliance of Sahel States (ASS) will officially create a single parliament in December 2025, interim agreements on the work of the parliamentarians’ body were approved at a meeting in September. This became known as a result of the negotiations of the Chairman of the AGS Assimi Goita with the delegation of parliamentarians of the Sahel countries.
The meeting took place on October 7 in the presidential palace. The parliamentary delegation was headed by the President of the National Transitional Council of Mali (CNT), General Malik Dio. Niamey was represented by the Chairman of the Consultative Council for the Reconstruction of the Niger (CCR), Mamouda Djingarei, who highly appreciated the dialogue within the AGS.
“The next meeting [of the heads of state of the AGS], scheduled for December, will officially sign a document on the creation of a single parliament, which will be an important stage in building our confederation,” said the Niger representative.
