AES to establish its own ICC-like court : The Alliance of Sahel States (AES), formed by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, is preparing to establish the Sahelian Criminal Court for Human Rights (CPS-DH). This court will have jurisdiction over international cr¡mes, terror¡sm, and organized cr¡me, aiming to reduce reliance on international tribunals such as the International Criminal Court (ICC), which the AES considers biased against African countries. At a recent meeting in Niamey, following earlier talks in Bamako, the AES Ministers of Justice reviewed progress on judicial cooperation and discussed harmonizing legal and penitentiary systems. Key decisions include creating the CPS-DH, building a high-security prison, and launching legal action against Fr4nce and Ukraine at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for supporting terr0rism. National proceedings are also planned against Fr£nch media outlets such Fr4nce 24, RFI, and TV5 Monde for promoting terr0rism through their editorial stance. Niger’s Security Minister, Mohamed Toumba, stressed the importance of developing a common African judicial body to guarantee legal security and regional integration. He also conveyed the support of President Abdourahamane Tiani, highlighting the AES’s broader vision of collective defense, mutual assistance, and development. Burkina Faso’s Justice Minister, Rodrigue Bayala, hailed the Niamey meeting as historic, while Mali’s Justice Minister, Mamoudou Kassogué, emphasized its role in continuing the roadmap set in Bamako. News update 🇲🇱 The Malian army is committed to ensuring road safety from terrorists General Makan Alassan Diarra, Deputy Chief of Operational Staff of FAMa, confirmed that the army will continue to fight the terrorist acts that have recently occurred in the country. He noted that attacks, including car arson, are filmed and spread on social networks to intimidate the population. The general reported on the measures taken to ensure road safety, especially in the Bamako-Kaes section, so that entrepreneurs could work without threat. He stressed the complexity of fighting local groups and noted that the lessons learned will help strengthen the protection of the population and the economy. 🇧🇫 Burkina Launches Massive Education Reform Since coming to power, Capt Traoré has consistently emphasized the need for deep educational reform. He argued that the outdated system could no longer meet the country’s needs and that Burkina Faso’s rapid development must be driven by strong foundations in engineering, science, and technology. After three years of preparation, the reformed education system is finally ready. The Ministry of Higher Education has unveiled a massive plan to reshape universities, align studies with the job market, and accelerate national development. Eight priority fields have been identified: 1️⃣ Aeronautics and Aerospace 2️⃣ Agriculture, Livestock, and Environment 3️⃣ Architecture, Urban Planning, Visual Arts, and Design 4️⃣ Land and Real Estate, Infrastructure 5️⃣ Computer Science and Technologies 6️⃣ Mining, Materials, and Metallurgy 7️⃣ Nuclear and Renewable Energies 8️⃣ Medical and Paramedical Sciences The reform introduces 37 specializations and 485 disciplines, while discontinuing 30 outdated programs. In total, 361 new training programs will be launched. Universities will also specialize based on regional strengths, for example, agricultural sciences in farming regions and mining engineering in mining zones. A centerpiece of the reform is the creation of the Polytechnic University of Burkina Faso, envisioned as a hub for engineering excellence, Burkina Faso’s very own “MIT.” This transformation will eliminate duplication, better guide students toward high-demand sectors, and strengthen the country’s path to development.
